Dr. Robert L. Phillips, licensed in IllinoisI am a psychologist with many years of experience and exposure to a broad range of therapeutic approaches. I relate easily and informally to clients who come from a variety of backgrounds and who are dealing with a broad range of emotional problems. I am an active participant in in the therapy process. I draw upon my extensive experience base to ask a lot of questions which help clients to focus on and understand the central issues which lie at the base of their emotional problems. I help them to identify and work through the blocks which prevent resolution of these central issues. I am very supportive and affirming and help clients to focus on their positive qualities as they make the changes that lead to a happier and more fulfilling life. I keep abreast of new developments in the field of psychotherapy. I regularly explore new treatment methods and incorporate the best of what I find in my practice of individual and marital therapy. I am trained in EMDR (eye movement, densitization and reprocessing therapy) and DMNS (developmental needs meeting strategy). These are two exciting new therapy strategies which are proving to be very effective in treating a variety of emotional problems. Psychotherapy-Network
